Instrumentation and Automation services are mainly focused on the oil & gas sector, refineries and petrochemical industries. Our project portfolio encompass studies and detail engineering including instrument selection, specification, sizing and calculations. The Instrumentation department provides instrument design services and documentation to our Clients, which forms the basis for plant erection, commissioning, testing, start-up and safe operation. Our department also performs support, modification, revamping, maintenance and troubleshooting services.

The APPLY Poland Instrumentation Team possess significant design experience in the following areas:

Our experience with wide range of unit instrumentation, control and safety protection design allows us designing in all remaining industry branches as well. Instrumentation department can provide engineering and design activities in other areas, but not limited to the following ones:

Main Activities

The typical Instrumentation activities are, but not limited to the following:

  • General Engineering:
    • Instrument Index (preliminary, based on P&IDs from Process, updated continuously during the project period)
    • Instrument Data Sheets (based on Process Data Sheets from Process, updated with final instrument Vendors data)
    • Instrument Enquiries (Instrument Data Sheets with General Instrument Requirements), sent by Procurement to Vendors (together with Commercial conditions for bid obtaining
    • Bid evaluation (to make the proposals technically comparable and to select the best proposal)
    • Control / ESD / F&G narrative, based on Control / ESD philosophy from Process and F&G requirements from HSE (Health, Safety, Environment)
  • Installation Design consists of 2 parts:
    • Field Installation Design
    • Control Room (CR) / Technical Instrumentation Room (TIR) Installation Design
  • Field Installation Design:
    • Instrument and Junction Boxes (JB) field location plan
    • Instruments Process Hook-ups with installation Material Take-off (MTO)
    • Field JB wiring diagrams (with JB MTO)
    • Instrument Cables Routing Plan (MTO for Instrument and Electrical cable trays issued by Electrical Dept)
    • Instrument Cable List (with summary cables MTO)
    • Instrument Air (IA) field distribution (with MTO)
  • Control Room (CR) & Technical Room Installation Design:
    • DCS / ESD / F&G Technical Requirements (based on Client’s standards)
    • Control Philosophy Description
    • Loop Diagrams
    • C & E Diagram(s) for ESD and F&G
    • Logic Diagrams (ESD, DCS logic control)
    • Graphic Screens sketches (for DCS Operator Stations)
    • Motor Control Philosophy (with Electrical Dept)
    • Interposing Relay Cabinet(s) design input data
    • CR & TIR equipment arrangement
    • Internal cable routings & installation details with MTO
    • Input data & requirements for HVAC design
  • “AS-BUILT” Documentation:
    • Documents selected (by Client) from above mentioned documentation (excluding DCS / ESD input data) with implemented all changes / modifications done during installation, commissioning and start-up.
